I ran this call a couple of years ago and had forgot about it. I ride the heavy rescue and they called us in to stabilize this dump truck while they got the guy out.
The good news was the guy wasnt hurt he was just pinned and could'nt get out. At first I thought it was a Cutlass S but after looking some more I found the 442 stripes under the rear and front fender extentions where they were'nt sanded off but just painted over. Lets see you live through this in a newer car.

Mitchell,

Incredible pics! Do you know how the accident happened? Was the truck taking a turn too fast? How did you get the guy out of the Olds? I'm in the road construction biz so I know how heavy a tandem dump truck loaded with asphalt is. Wow!!!

The driver of the 442 was exiting I575 and a car slowed down in front of him so he was just creeping along, the dumo truck was coming off the ramp and was too fast at the bottom and couldnt make the turn and tiped it over. The best pic is on our city web site from the back. The wierd thing was the driver was alredy paralized from the waist down and the car was equiped with hand controls. He was'nt happy about his car but was happy to still be here!

Wow! That last pic really shows the damage. It's a good thing the asphalt dumped over the car instead of in the car! I'm guessing the truck was carrying hot mix asphalt. It leaves the plant at approx. 300 degrees!

Yes it was still very hot, the driver has some burns to his arms and legs where it poured through the window. We used shovels to flatten it out and had to kneel down in it to build the cribb box. The good thing was it made a great base as we lifted with the airbag it compressed it and made it solid. but it ruined my turnout gear pants because they were covered with asphault. one of the other shifts ran another call there a week or so later for a tanker truck that did the same thing but it just tipped over no other cars were involved. Cobb P.D. and DOT set up camp there for a while and wrote tickets.

Lets have a moment of silence for that poor 442 that gave it`s life saving it`s owner. And of coarse a thank you to those that were their to save the owner.
