Great to find this forum. I have a 1976 Cutlass Supreme Coupe that I ordered new and have never been able to part with. It has been sitting for about 15 years (carport then garage), so last fall the restoration started. It is equipped with a 455,T-tops, and just about every option you could get in 76. It was ordered without a vinyl top. It has the dark red (Mahogony) buckets and accent stripes. It's been a fantastic car and I can't wait to finish the restoration and start having fun with it again. Look forward to hearing from fellow owners of these great cars!

Wow, that's cool you still have it. Welcome to the site. I wonder is there any other original owners on this site? Be sure and hit the registry link at the top of the page and register your car.

Thanks! My car was ordered to be as close to a Hurst/Olds as I could get. I had wanted a black 75 H/O. Thought I would wait until 76 to get one. Well, that did not happen, so when I saw the pictures of your 76 442- H/O I just loved it! That was the car I really wanted to build and was told I couldn't so now I know they were wrong. Can't wait to see it finished!

Thanks Alan if your reply was to me. But there's only 1 "true" '76 H/O owner on this site and it's not me  :p . I am "cloning" mine to look like the white prototype that was produced.......someday  :D .

You talking to me?
My car was built in Arlington, Texas and sold at Moritz Olds(now Cadillac but still in business) in Arlington. I can't read the altered sticker in the door jamb. The original sticker printing is legible but what ever was written on it to fill it in has faded out. I would assume it was done by the dealer, as Brad442 said to me the other day I don't think the car was sent all the way to Hurst for the t-top install. I added the dual gate and the digital tach.
Do you have your build sheet?
Look at the pictures of the 76 Hurst Olds proposal car on the site. That's the car you wanted to order and they should have made them.

Hey Ragz442....I was talking about the 76 "clone" car Ragz is doing........I would like it either way, either a clone or just with the 442 stripes and the H/O band over the top....Really cool......is the real 76 prototype owned by someone on this forum?.........
and Texxas8902.......as far as I know, the build sheet is still somewhere in the car I hope, the backseat has never been out of the car, so it might be there...I had all the original paperwork, including the original window sticker. The car was broken into in a shopping mall parking lot in 1982 and they stole everything out of the glovebox including all the original paperwork that was in there. I don't think the build sheet was there. It does have a sticker on the inside of the driver's door that indicates it was modified in May 76 for the T-top. It was on the door when the car was delivered to me. My car was built in Lansing. That's a sharp car you have also.

Alan, there's a couple pics of the '76 H/O in the VBGarage on the 2nd page I believe. Owners screen name is 76HOProposal, it's a very cool car and 1 of 1. Wish we could get him to post a few more pics :D hint....hint.

Bad news, it seems most guys with Lansing built cars can never find the build sheet. Maybe you will be a lucky one and find yours. Mine was in between the gas tank and trunk floor. Good luck.

Well, I did find the original car invoice and bill of sale as well as the letter that Oldsmobile sent you when you purchased a new car. I also found a copy of the window sticker. I also have a letter from Helen Earley at Oldsmobile telling me about the breakdown of 76 Olds production numbers. Total 76 Olds production was 874,618 and out of that number, 186,647 were Cutlass Supreme hardtop coupes. Of the 186,647 figure, 2,850 were equipped with the 455 engine (L74option) and 9,222 were ordered with the hatch roof t-top (AE1 option). Still no build sheet yet.

Well you sure got just about everything but the build sheet. That's great. I wish I had my window sticker or dealer invoice.:(

Great car! And great to see another Southerner onboard. Looks like Dixie is getting better represented every time I log in.
